Shape the Future of Learning & Support
We believe every child has a spark that deserves to be seen, not hidden behind a cloud of difficulty. Thriving Through Recreation was born in 2023 with a single mission: to clear the obstacles standing between a young person and the learning they love. By providing the funding and the freedom to pursue their passions, we help children reclaim their childhood—turning heavy hurdles into the joyful escapes for which they’ve been waiting.
Our Next Chapter
We are currently led by a dedicated Board of Trustees, including our CEO and seven further members. As we look ahead through 2026, we are ready to grow. We want to broaden the expertise, diversity, and perspective of our Board to ensure we are as resilient and dynamic as the children we support.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking individuals who share our radical belief in the power of autonomy and the "healing spark" of recreation. While we welcome expertise in all areas of charity governance, we have a particular need for voices with experience in:
-
Human Resources
-
Law & Compliance
-
Fundraising & Strategic Growth
Lived Experience
We highly value lived experience. If you have personally navigated the same hurdles as our families—feeling the weight of the support systems, the exhaustion of the 'advocacy' battle, or the isolation that social and educational difficulties can bring—your perspective is vital. Whether you’ve faced these challenges yourself or walked alongside someone who has, your insight ensures our mission remains rooted in reality.
How to Apply

This is a voluntary role, offering the chance to provide stability and vision for a charity that stays for the "long haul." If you are ready to help us light a way for young people across Cambridgeshire and Gloucestershire, we’d love to hear from you.

Please write to our Board Chair at contact@thrivingthroughrecreation.co.uk.

In your message, tell us a bit about your background, what you could bring to our Board, and—most importantly—what draws you to our mission.
